Forgotten

I made this around at the end of February, but i forgot to post it over here.
It was a sudden idea that I had, and again, it was a gift, so I don't have it anymore.

My point of view, I could have done better with the finishing touches, but as a present it was appreciated (as I heard), so I'm starting a new business: making anything out of nothing (or things I can find around the house) and a crazy idea, anyone willing to provide ideas?

As I said before, or if I forgot I'll mention now, everything here is for sale (well maybe not the exact ones you see here, but things are being made on request).

I had no idea (nor money) to find a decent preset for a friend of mine, who was turning 18. So I decided to make something, what did I know about her? She had a passion for photography, good enough...so the first thing that came to my mind was the image of a photographer, in a room full of smoke, sitting on a table full of films, coffee stains and cigarettes...what can I make? well...I found a frame around the house...this is what turned up:

As I initially started, I made some pairs of earrings, and encouraged by my friends I decided to sell...I'm posting right now to show you the current offer, what I'm making right now.

The prices are 20RON for every model except the vinyls (that come in different sizes) and are 30RON. Personal delivery in Bucharest, also available for outer Bucharest, I will decide with every customer the method of transportation.

With great delay i managed to return with news about crafting. and also found photos of the very first chain mail attempt, I told you about some time ago. The photo quality and the chain mail itself aren't great but you can make an idea about what I'm into...and very soon I'll return with more serious projects.

Well...I've been having this idea for some time now...it's been only a few days ago that I actually managed to start working on it...and eventually finish it.

I suppose there isn't that much to say, the "things" talks for itself, about one of my passions.

I also must mention that two of the envelopes used in creating this are more than 20 years old.

Since I started working on that chain mail, me and a colleague started talking about how nice it would be to have a place where to go and practice these things, such as a small village, or a shed somewhere, with a forge, an anvil or two and things like this... usually what you could find around a medieval blacksmith's workshop.
And since we were thinking of something like a little village, or better an island, or even a small castle, I came up with the idea to have our own coat of arms, after a little study, and seeing some others for inspiration...I started working on one, and now it's done, and soon it will probably be on our sleeve.

I am returning with news about crafting, this time the theme is medieval, I'm working on a chain mail bracelet. It's not too big, not too spectacular, and it's the very first I am making, but I have bigger plans, I'll return with news as soon as I have it done, hopefully it will be soon(that is if i get some more materials tomorrow).

Marketing techniques, comercial, or really bad taste

I wanted to write about this for several months, but I've been really busy lately and I didn't get the chance to post any more.
Have you noticed (mostly readers who live in Romania), that lately fashion has a very negative impact over good taste? Nowadays people aren't buying a good T-Shirt just because it has a good material, or it's warm and cozy, no, people buy the T-Shirt because it has a HUGE, golden "PUMA" logo on it... I mean really are we buying the brand or the T-Shirt...well...judging by the prices we are certainly buying the brand, but people are just looking at the brand, if it has a big Puma, Nike, or other famous brand shining, glittering on the chest it's a keeper.
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but every time I go out on the street i see countless persons wearing the same type of shirts with big shiny logos, where is fashion and good taste going to?

A thing that bothers me, but I sort of got to live with it, is that I never get to hear the latest news especially in the domains I'm actually interested.
For example, I ran across some design contest that took place a few months ago http://www.filterdesign.ro, also some time ago found out that Ben Terrett of The Design Conspiracy was here to give the participants a speech about design. And I' m still not over the fact that I've missed it.
Also a problem is that events such as contests or so are not well promoted.
I did mention Ben Terrett, because his blog really inspired me, and managed to get me started blogging and posting my ideas regarding brands, design, and all.

I've been having this idea in my head for months, i even wrote it down as a reminder so I won't forget to transform it into reality.
And a few weeks ago I had the chance to put things in place, since the birthday of a good friend was close and I thought it would be a nice present.

So around March 2007, before going to bet the oddest idea came to me, to make a pair of earrings looking like a vinyl/record.

About a month ago I decided in making those earrings, but had no idea how, or out of what, and only had three days, the idea was that I only used things I found around the house, and managed in three days to come up with something looking decent, even nice I might say.

Photos that I've taken with my camera, or things I've created in Photoshop/Fireworks or similar. You are free to use these images, but please drop me a line and please give me a little link in return. Thank you.

2. Sometimes, I might use an image from Flickr or Deviant.
If I do use a photo, I will credit the owner and provide a link back. If for any reason you don't want me to use your pictures drop me a line and I'll take it down.
